Read this in Hindi. It is that time of the year where you want to sip a cup of coffee and cuddle up with a blanket. While the caffeine can give you an instant high, why not eat foods that can keep you energetic and regulate your body temperature. Here are five foods that will keep you warm this winter and six immune boosting foods for kids this winter. According to fitness expert Rujuta Diwekar, it is the best time to enjoy a hearty meal of bhakri prepared with bajra. It will keep you warm and help you beat the winter chills. The millet will also keep you energetic during winter. It is mainly made of starch, a high-energy food. Since starch takes longer to break down in your stomach, bajra is a long-acting source of energy that will keep you full for a longer time. Bajra is also a good source of iron and contains moderate amounts of calcium. The cereal, when consumed with jaggery, becomes enriched with iron and calcium. You should also consume nachni or ragi during winters. It also keeps your system warm, and no other foods come close to nachni when it comes to calcium content. Our body needs additional nutrition during winter and this millet helps in absorbing the nutrients and build muscle tissue. So go ahead and enjoy a meal of bhakri with bajra flour or nachni flour and lehsun ki chutney! Try this healthy bajra aur kaddu ki roti. Image source: Getty Images
